Floor Care and Maintaining your Wood Floor

Mulveys have a full range of floor maintenance accessories – from felt pads to floor cleaner, so make sure to check out our entire range.

With today’s advances in wood flooring stains and finishes, cleaning your wood floors has never been easier. Regular maintenance requires little more than cleaning with a microfiber floor mop and using preventive floor pads on furniture to make sure they stay in good shape.

Below are some important rules which will help to ensure that proper maintenance and care is undertaken for your wood floor.

Rule One

Floor care means keeping the floor clean – sweep and vacuum regularly to avoid dirt and grit damaging the surface of your floor. Use only specialised timber floor cleanings such as Canadia floor cleaner or Floor service parquet cleaner – NEVER WET MOP A TIMBER FLOOR.

Rule Two

Use entrance mats to protect your floor at external doorway and areas of high traffic, cleaning these regularly. It's important to remove as much outside dirt as possible before walking on your floor.

Rule Three

Use floor protector pads under the legs of furniture and castor cups under all castors to avoid marking your floor. Swivel chairs need to be placed on mats as these types of chairs are very aggressive on wood floors.

Rule Four

Stilletto heels can put considerable pressure on a timber floor – please ensure that heels are kept in good repair as pins protruding from a heel in bad repair can indent the floor and damage it permanently.
